How the aspect-ratio wall works
An aspect ratio is the simplified relationship between width and height. Every pixel option under a ratio has exactly the same shape. For example, 1280 × 720, 1920 × 1080, and 2560 × 1440 all reduce to 16:9.

The right-side selector groups dimensions by reducing both numbers to their lowest whole-number ratio. That places 800 × 600 under 4:3, 1080 × 1080 under 1:1, and 900 × 1200 under 3:4.
